Now I get excited about little things – but especially wildlife. On a road trip a few months ago was a group of wild turkeys on the side of the road…I quickly pulled over and amongst strange looks and smiles from passing traffic – took a moment to capture this lot in the sun.

One day while teaching my Advanced Photography class we headed down to a small pier to discuss the Rule of Thirds – making and breaking the rules.  This was one of my resulting shots.

Image three in my B&W series – this is one of my favorites – I like the contrast between the stamen and petals and how the lines in the petals really show up much better than in colour.

The first in my weekly themed series – this week highlights B&W photography starting with a rocky splash.

Recently I went back to Hamilton Gardens and discovered they had repainted over all the great weathering on the buildings.  I am very disappointed.  It gave it such character.  I’m sure it had to be done but I do miss the look!

I know it’s been a few days – but here you go.  A friendly seagull on Waiheke Island.

In another trip down memory lane – this was one of my practice shots with freezing water.  I put an apple in my kitchen sink, with only the lights in the kitchen on and played with the water pressure until I got this one.  I then applied several filters to go for the dreamy soft look.  (I also kept quite a few sharp crisp ones.) I now realize I should have rotated the bad spot out of frame – but that is what learning curves are for!

The changing leaves reminded me of one of the first pictures I took when I got my 400D – this still remains one of my favorites!
